The aim of this portal is to increase transparency and information available, increasing efficiency and to provide an added channel through which economic operators communicate with MITA.

As set out in its Status, MITA shall, in the procurement of works, services and supplies, observe the Government of Malta's Public Procurement Regulations that may be in force from time to time. Under the Public Procurement Regulations (Legal Notice 352 of 2016), MITA is listed as a Schedule 3 Contracting Authority, and thus is responsible for administering and determining their own procurement procedure, in conformance with the provisions of the same Regulations.

All procurement shall be undertaken without discrimination between Economic Operators, and all Operators shall be treated equally and transparently.

All procurement issued by the Agency, except those permitted by the Regulations, shall be made using the Electronic Public Procurement System (EPPS) portal. In line with the new Regulations, tender notices shall only be published on the EPPS (other than this website), except when the contract estimate requires publication in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU).
